Friday the 13th: The game sequel confirmed!

We have been waiting for this day, and now it's official. Friday the 13th: The game is not dead.

Horror Inc. has confirmed that a sequel to Friday the 13th video game is in development.

This was revealed at the San Diego Comic-Con 2025. It is said that the game is at the top of Horror Inc.'s list. The game is "in the works" and is coming.

Can you play Friday the 13th: The Game in 2025?

This post is updated with current info/links.

Is Friday the 13th: The Game dead?

For years some people had falsely claimed that this game is dead, and now it's finally true.

Friday the 13th: The Game came to an end officially on December 31, 2024. The exact time of death was at midnight EST. The game still worked for a few minutes after that, but then all the players in public lobbies and private matches were booted to the main menu, with database login failure. And this time this error is permanent.

The game died at 7 am my time, and I was lucky enough to see the end live on Twitch streams. Back then I didn't know when the game would stop working, I only learned about the announced time afterwards. How great that someone finally told us the time, but only 4 hours before the end.

Just before the death of Friday I saw a private match. All the counselors were around a camp fire, dancing and crying. And even Jason joined their fun. It was like a memorial service, or a wake. What a great way to send off this great game.

I thought that in the end I would cry, or even have a breakdown. Luckily I had been mentally preparing myself for months, saying my goodbyes to each counselor individually. I loved too many of them.

It's been heartbreaking and bittersweet to see that I'm not alone in my sorrow. That there are many others who loved this game as much as I did.

Wonder what all the kill squads, trolls, cheaters and teamers are doing now? Probably poisoning other games.

How to play Friday the 13th: The Game in 2025?

The online portion of the game is no longer officially playable on consoles. You can only play offline bots, single player challenges and the virtual cabin. And even in these you can only use Jasons part 3 and 5.

Friday the 13th: The Game back online on PS4/PS5

EDIT

Now there's also a way to play the game on PS4/PS5!

Guide: How to play Friday The 13th: Game after shutdown on Playstation 4 & 5

After just two days the game is back online on PC and PS4/PS5! Gotta love this community!

Do note that this private server might be down occasionally, and no one knows for how long this fun will last. There has been surprisingly many players (hundreds), and full lobbies.

Friday the 13th: The Game on PC in 2025

On PC there are some ways to play online matches, to enable quick play, private matches and matchmaking.

Try these at your own risk.

Then there's also a build called "Camp Forest Green", but it seems that a cease and desist is imminent. Don't ask me how to get this version.

So despite all the goodbyes and funerals, this game was dug up from its grave and hit by lightning, and lives on! Just like Jason.

Sequel to Friday the 13th: The Game?

Some people are dreaming of a sequel or a remastered version of the game, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it.

But exactly how much would it cost to keep the game online? We still don't know that, and probably never will. There are people who would be willing to pay to be able to play this game.

But there always was an option, to make the game truly p2p. To make the database that still was on servers local. But of course Gun Media didn't bother to pursue this option. I mean why would they? They haven't made any money from this game for a long time, while still having to pay for it.

RIP Friday the 13th: The Game 2017-2024

Was it a fun ride? Most of the time it was frustrating and enraging. So many people say they are grateful for the great people and friends they met through this game. It seems I only met assholes... Well, like someone said: Maybe assholes like each others, and become friends?

I played Friday the 13th: The Game for 6 years and thousands of hours, and all I got was this lousy t-shirt (affiliate link), and severe hatred for mankind.

Like someone on Reddit said: "This game helped me escape reality." Especially at the start of the COVID pandemic. And during these last horrible months, after all my 3 cats died within a short period of time. Now I have to face reality again: the cats are gone, and so is Friday. And I'll never be the same again.

Rest in peace my favorite game of all time, Friday the 13th: The Game. I'll miss you forever. Life is nothing without you.

And by the way, my Youtube-channel is full of videos of my very boring Friday the 13th gameplay.

After the break there are some more images related to the end of the best game ever.

Saying goodbye to the love of my life

Now it's officially over, for good. In the end I only got six and a half years with you. You will forever be the love of my life. I thank you for the memories, both good and bad. Unfortunately, there are more of the bad ones, or at least they are easier to remember.

For reasons beyond our control, it was difficult from the beginning. Other parties tried to stop us from being together, to cut it short. They also predicted that it wouldn't last, they already judged it dead years ago. In that regard, I feel very lucky that it lasted this long. Even though it went badly, it could have gone worse.

In a perfect world, this wouldn't have happened, and we could have continued together for a long time. Maybe not forever, but longer than we had now. We could have had many more good years together.

I remember my first time with you. I was so scared that I hid under the bed, hoping that I wouldn't be found.

I met a lot of people through you. Too many of them only increased my hatred of people, but of course it wasn't your fault. You couldn't control what kind of people would come to you. But sometimes it felt like you brought out the worst in people. I know that at some point you tried to get rid of the assholes, but in the end you couldn't, and I can understand that. Some even took advantage of you, and I'm ashamed to admit that sometimes I caved in to it myself. I regret some of the things I did.

Your life story is so sad, and above all unfair. You were a victim of things you couldn't control. When the first problem came, you were abandoned. You were left alone, adrift. Sometimes certain people still tried, but in vain. They just broke you more and worse.

You had already been through a lot when I met you, and parts of your past are still a mystery to me. I'll never know everything about you, and like with many other things, that's one of the tragedies of life.

We argued a lot, and I admit that it was mostly my fault. I often got frustrated, and stressed out. Only in the end did I find a more relaxed way to be with you.

I don't know if I can go on without you. Of course, there are other fish in the sea, but none of them are anything compared to you. You brought me to life in a completely different way.

I wish I could say that I enjoyed every moment with you, but that wasn't the case. With you, I went through all the emotions, it was never boring. I constantly learned new sides of you, and yet I knew that I could never know you completely.

Without you, my life will be much more boring. I don't know where I could find any joy anymore. There is nothing to look forward to. Nothing to do, especially on my weekend evenings.

I had been counting down the minutes for a long time, and when the time came, I was afraid that I would cry, throw up, and break down, but surprisingly, that didn't happen. I had already done the grieving process, and overdosed on you in the last few months.

I wish we had never crossed paths. It would have been easier if I had not known you existed. Or rather, I wish I had never gotten to know you. Fallen in love with you.

Some things you just can't control, and this was one of them. I don't know if there was any way you could have been saved. At least not in this reality.

Now the plug has been pulled. I was lucky, and I got to see live the moment you crossed over from time into eternity.

Farewell the love of my life, Friday the 13th: The Game.

Rest in peace, my love.

Merry Last Christmas of Friday the 13th: The Game!

There's only one week, just seven days, left to enjoy the existence of Friday the 13th: The Game!

And what could possibly be a better way to celebrate the last Christmas ever than playing as Chad in his red speedo?

Have you been naughty or nice this year? I know for a fact that Jason has been very, very naughty. Well, come 2025 his reign of terror will be over.

This game coming to a dead end is the biggest horror of them all, but there's at least one positive thing about it.

"You can't get killed by Jason if you can't play the game."

Were you on Jason's Dead List this year?

When you are looking for the perfect tree...

Oh, I'm sure that more than anything you want to see photos of that promised (red) speedo Chad...

Christmas spirit achieved, am I right?!

Happy holidays to everyone except Jason!

Friday the 13th: The Game - Survival tips for IDIOTS!

Now, with just a month to go, it's probably the best time to rant about this.

With the imminent end in sight I started to play my favorite game Friday the 13th: The Game daily. And at some point I started to make ragequits in almost every match. Because of this I obviously can't play as host anymore. But why didn't I think of this tactic years ago? When I ragequit I don't have to suffer from the idiocy of the other players.

It seems to me that nearly 100% of the time I ragequit because of the stupidity of the other counselors. I rarely ragequit because of Jason. Most of the time the other counselors are a bigger threat to themselves than Jason.

Most of the time the counselors do their absolute best to make sure that no one can survive. That no one can escape.

And I'm not talking about the cheaters, exploiters or other assholes, like those who like to run over other counselors with the car for "fun".

I'M TALKING ABOUT IDIOTS.

Those who keep the phone fuse hostage. If finding the phone house is not your number one priority, always DROP THE FUSE. If the cops aren't called, most likely all the counselors will die. Including you! Don't be that idiot who dooms us all do death. Don't be a dick. Don't be like Chad!

Those who bring Jason to objectives. This has happened a million times: I'm the only one in the match doing anything, and wherever I go trying to do objectives some counselor comes there, followed by Jason. They are sabotaging themselves by sabotaging the only person who is working for their survival.

When a car is on the move, but Jason stops it. It would be a perfect time to try to do something else. IT'S ALWAYS MOST DIFFICULT FOR JASON IF MULTIPLE THINGS ARE HAPPENING AT ONCE. But no, Buggzy takes the other car's keys, and runs to the running car, fighting for it with the rest of the idiots. That's of course where also the fuse is, in the pocket of one of the idiots. So even if I find the missing part for the other car a bit later, it's useless. Can't get the keys, can't get the fuse. And those idiots fighting for the car are most likely to die, one by one. It's the absolute BEST if ALL the counselors are fighting for the two-seater. You all are NOT going to fit in, so why not try to do something else while there's a chance? But no, idiots will be idiots.

And how many times have one or even two cars been fully repaired at the start of the match, but then no one never starts them. Where are the keys? Maybe they both are in the pocket of an idiot, probably along with the fuse. Maybe he likes to scratch his ass with them. I mean, what else could they be used for?

Yet another example of idiots, just from today: I rushed to find gas for the boat, but Vanessa got there first. At first, Vanessa headed towards the cabin where the propeller might be. Well, it turned out that someone had already found it. Next, this idiotic duo headed off with their two boat parts to the wrong direction, away from the boat. Well, the idiots got to keep their loot and their match when I ragequit. Why should I have to suffer from the idiocy of other players?!

And what is the most fun of them all? When all the needed items (fuse, keys, car part) have been brought to the same place. And this is of course the place where ALL the counselors are, and therefore also Jason is. Making it highly risky, if impossible trying to sneak in for parts. And probably some idiot gets the keys and fuse before someone who would actually do something with them.

So, these days, when idiots happen, I just ragequit. They don't deserve my effort trying to save them.

Yes, I hate people. And playing multiplayer games has made me hate people even more. Therefore it doesn't make any sense why I love Friday the 13th: The Game so much. It has brought me frustration, stress, anger and hatred for mankind.

Soon it's time to say goodbye. Try to enjoy your last month at the lake. I'm there every day, ragequitting.

The death of Friday the 13th: The Game

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

I've written about the end of Friday the 13th: The Game before, but I can't stop crying about it. There are two Friday the 13ths left this year, the first one today, and with those the tale of this game will come to an end.

Is Friday the 13th: The game getting shut down?

Yes. Every day the end is getting nearer. The end of Friday the 13th: The Game. After December 31 2024 the game won't be playable anymore. Never again.

Yes, I have heard some things about possible private servers on PC in the future. But Friday the 13th: The Game Resurrected only lived for a second, before it was taken down for legal reasons.

I wish I could focus on the good memories, but always the assholes come to mind first. The teamers, the cheaters and so on. I have always hated people, but online multiplayer games have made me hate people even more. I have lost all faith in humanity. So thank you, assholes!

Friday the 13th game: Can you still play?

Yes, you can. But only till the end of year 2024.

While I still can, I have promised myself to play this game as much as I can. Thankfully there still are lot of active players, at least on PS4/PS5. On PC the game has been a mess for years.

I'm gonna play it every day, or try to. At least starting from the beginning of October. The Halloween month. Should I celebrate Halloween by playing only as Lachappa, again? To experience the true horror of Halloween.

Some counselors are my favorites, while some certainly aren't. But still I want to play as them all before it all ends.

Playing this game always makes me stressed and angry, and it's terrible for my health. So it makes absolutely no sense why I even want to play it. But addictions can rarely be explained.

And just the thought of New year's eve makes me wanna vomit. If I'm still alive then... and if the game is still alive then... how will I be able to play the until the literal end, while crying and throwing up? I want to play it all through the night if the game closes in the morning of January 1st my time. But the game was taken from sale earlier than they promised, so when will the actual closing time be? Even before than New year's eve? And I'm afraid that my last match in this game is gonna be a horrible one. Stupid death, teamers and cheaters all combined? I want my last match to be a survival. That's what I always hope for when I play this game.

This game means too much to me, especially since Covid. Instead of going to bars on the weekends I stayed home to play Friday 13th. And I still do. After this game ends I might have to go outside again and face the real world. Oh the horror, oh the pain.

Petition: Preserve the Online Servers for Friday The 13th Game Beyond December 31, 2024

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

As you hopefully know by now, Friday the 13th: The Game is coming to an end on December 31, 2024. After that day it's not possible to play the game at all. The servers which host your player data, such as your level and perks and unlocked counselors and Jasons, will be closed.

But there is yet another petition to keep the game alive. This seems to be the newest one, it was started on August 20, 2024. These petitions have never received many signatures, and it's extremely unlikely if outright impossible that Illfonic or Gun Media or Black Tower Studios would lend an ear.

Petition on change.org:

Preserve the Online Servers for Friday The 13th Game Beyond December 31, 2024

I have been a fan of the Friday The 13th Game since day one and I know I am not alone. There are countless others who have joined since the game's launch and still cherish every moment spent playing it. We are a diverse community from different gaming platforms, PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox, who yet find unity in our shared fascination for this game. No day goes by without us finding full lobbies on consoles, proof of the unwavering popularity of this game.

Now, we face a looming impediment. The plan is to shut down the game’s servers after December 31, 2024. This move threatens the very core of what makes this game special - the ability to connect and play with others. We would like for the Friday The 13th The Game's servers to stay open past December 31,2024.

This is not a mere cry of a few. As of 2020, this game had sold more than 2 million copies across all platforms. These statistics illustrate the profound impact this game has and continues to make globally (Source: Gamasutra).

We grasp the reality that all games have a life cycle. However, we believe Friday The 13th Game has established an enduring legacy that still covers a significant player base worldwide. The discontinuation of the servers will not just impact the game; it will disappoint millions of players who still dearly treasure it.

Therefore, we humbly appeal to the game's developers and publishers. Please, if possible, extend the life of the servers beyond December 31, 2024. Help us preserve this game that has brought us countless hours of joy and camaraderie. Please allow future generations of gamers to experience the thrill of Friday The 13th. To everyone reading this, your signatures can make a sea-change. Please sign this petition.

Friday the 13th game: How to kill Jason

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

So this is what it feels like when doves cry! (The Simpsons

Some players keep killing Jasons regularly in Friday the 13th: The Game, but I had to wait for that miracle until I was at level 112 (of course this was before they gave everyone level 150).

I remember at least two earlier attempts. In the first one what went wrong was that I had been brainwashed in a private match to believe that Tommy can't put Jason to his knees, and also the weapon was "wrong", machete. In the second try me as Tommy and the sweater girl both stepped into Jason's traps at the same time. Dying is rarely as funny as then, and that was a smart move from Jason. He did his best in a shitty situation.

How to kill Jason

Killing Jason always needs at least two players to co-operate.

1. Jason has to lose his mask. If Jason gets enough damage during a match he will lose his mask.

2. One of the female counselors has to go to Jason's shack and take Jason's mother's sweater from there. This player is called the sweater girl.

3. Only the special counselor Tommy Jarvis can kill Jason. The weapon has to be either machete or axe. Axe is a much better option, because it's more likely to stun/put Jason to his knees.

So at first Jason must lose his mask by hitting Jason with weapons. The best weapons for this are the ones that make the most damage. And they are machete, axe and fire poker. The damage from shotguns, flare guns, fire crackers and bear traps counts too. But do remember that flares and crackers are useless when Jason is in rage mode.

Note: the weapon stats in the image might be outdated.

Some Jasons lose their mask more easily than others. Part 2 is one of the easier ones.

Counselors' strenght stat affect how much damage they make to Jason's mask. The best counselors for mask removal are Tommy Jarvis, Buggzy and Adam. From the female counselors Fox.

Then the sweater girl has to use the sweater. Then if the next hit from a weapon stuns/ puts Jason to his knees, Tommy can kill Jason.

How likely it is that Jason goes to his knees? The chance is never 100%, even with the best weapon. And what is the best weapon? The ones that are most likely to stun Jason. Like I said, axe is better than machete. But even better than axe would be for example a baseball bat. But this would require either a third person, or Tommy to switch weapons quickly, or the sweater girl to get out of the sweater animation quickly (there's a cheat for that) and then stun Jason.

My first Jason kill: video

I started this very special match by doing my trademark, ie running straight to Jason's lap. Obviously I'm in love with Jason and can't wait to feel his hands on me. Then as Tommy I kept searching for the phone box fuse (it is always an obsession for me, even after I got the repairs done for a trophy. When this happened I had escaped to the police for over 100 times, and very little by other means) and gas for the car, I think the boat had already escaped. That Adam in the video kept following me and tried to show some flash light signals, I couldn't understand why. In this gameplay video I realized that there were two players following me, so I decided to see who are they. And then a sweater girl appeared. She had big difficulties trying to give me her axe. Quite lucky that we were successful. For example that Jason lost his mask from my first hit ("show yourself"), which means he had received previous damage. Especially because Jason already had the new (shitty) rage on.

So now when I apply for jobs I can put this to the part "The best achievement of your life".

How I got addicted to Friday the 13th: The Game

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

In October 2018 Friday the 13th: The Game was a monthly game on Playstation Plus, and I instantly got addicted to it. Here are my first impressions about the game back then.

I got totally hooked on PS Plus' October's game of the month Friday the 13th: The Game, which is based on the movie series of the same name. The game is being played online with other people so that one player is the killer Jason and others are his victims who try to escape.

At first I was only pissed at the game because 90% of the time I was just forced to stare at the starting screen, because there were no sessions to be found. Then I learned that if you can't find a session in two minutes, stop the search and try again.

For a month I didn't do much else than play Friday the 13th. And when I didn't play it I watched its streams. Right after the start I stopped playing as Jason. First of all I'm a terrible Jason. And second of all it's really stressful to play as Jason. In my last Jason match I felt like being bullied back in school when the counselors gangbanged me. Thanks, I have had enough. Playing as the victim is more suitable for me. I don't like the game's excessive violence and its totally unnecessary gore, there are like dozens of terrible ways to kill. But I guess that's how it is in the Friday the 13th movies. I have only seen one of the F13 movies, at Finnish class at school when I was 14. I totally don't remember why it was being watched there.

There are three different ways to survive in the game. First of all the match lasts for 20 minutes, if Jason won't be able to kill you in that time you have "won". You can also try to call the cops, but that requires many things. At first you have to find the phone box fuse, then the cabin which has the phone box. It takes 5 minutes for the police to arrive and then you have to get to them alive. The third way to escape is by car or by boat, but they require parts and gas, and the car also needs keys.

Just hanging around in a bathroom with my two (still surviving) friends. At one point I had to play as Buggzy so I could remove Jason's mask for a trophy. But other than that my first main counselor was AJ at first, then Adam and finally Vanessa. By the way here's a game I will definitely never get the platinum trophy, that is for sure. I'm not interested to play as Jason for a thousand matches. Nor to kill a lot of the other players. (how wrong I was)

This fun lasted for a month but finally my health couldn't take it anymore. First my neck got so painful that for a few nights I couldn't even sleep without a painkiller. Then the pain spread to my should which had already earlier had symptoms. But luckily (?) my PS plus run out. I'm not gonna renew it right now because maybe I should do something else with my life than just play this game? Some people dare to say that game trophies are not real life achievements. And in this game those trophies take so much work and time.

My early gameplay video happens to have all four ways to survive: boat, police, time, car.

Ps. Jason, I’m a counselor. You can trust me. South Park's Halloween-episode in 2018 had a fun F13-reference.

Drunk Speedo Chad's last birthday

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

It's my birthday, and I cry if I want to!

The time has come.

Today is my birthday. It's also my last birthday in this life when I can play my all time favorite game, Friday the 13th: The Game.

In honor of this very special occasion I'm gonna stream F13 all day long on Twitch. That means on the afternoon and evening European time. Unless I chicken out and stream to Youtube instead.

I'm also gonna drink sparkling wine all day long. And I'm only gonna play as speedo Chad. Hence the title of this post.

Besides wine the stream will feature lots of deaths, stupid mistakes and above all rage quits (by me)! And the forecast is positive for cheaters and teamers! But be forewarned, I do not have a mic. So if you are looking for a real stream, look elsewhere.

But I don't think I'm gonna cry. Not yet. If the game (and me) is still alive on this year's New year's eve... then I'm gonna cry my eyes out. And probably also vomit, out of terror of losing this game forever.
