Friday the 13th game: How to kill Jason

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

So this is what it feels like when doves cry! (The Simpsons

Some players keep killing Jasons regularly in Friday the 13th: The Game, but I had to wait for that miracle until I was at level 112 (of course this was before they gave everyone level 150).

I remember at least two earlier attempts. In the first one what went wrong was that I had been brainwashed in a private match to believe that Tommy can't put Jason to his knees, and also the weapon was "wrong", machete. In the second try me as Tommy and the sweater girl both stepped into Jason's traps at the same time. Dying is rarely as funny as then, and that was a smart move from Jason. He did his best in a shitty situation.

How to kill Jason

Killing Jason always needs at least two players to co-operate.

1. Jason has to lose his mask. If Jason gets enough damage during a match he will lose his mask.

2. One of the female counselors has to go to Jason's shack and take Jason's mother's sweater from there. This player is called the sweater girl.

3. Only the special counselor Tommy Jarvis can kill Jason. The weapon has to be either machete or axe. Axe is a much better option, because it's more likely to stun/put Jason to his knees.

So at first Jason must lose his mask by hitting Jason with weapons. The best weapons for this are the ones that make the most damage. And they are machete, axe and fire poker. The damage from shotguns, flare guns, fire crackers and bear traps counts too. But do remember that flares and crackers are useless when Jason is in rage mode.

Note: the weapon stats in the image might be outdated.

Some Jasons lose their mask more easily than others. Part 2 is one of the easier ones.

Counselors' strenght stat affect how much damage they make to Jason's mask. The best counselors for mask removal are Tommy Jarvis, Buggzy and Adam. From the female counselors Fox.

Then the sweater girl has to use the sweater. Then if the next hit from a weapon stuns/ puts Jason to his knees, Tommy can kill Jason.

How likely it is that Jason goes to his knees? The chance is never 100%, even with the best weapon. And what is the best weapon? The ones that are most likely to stun Jason. Like I said, axe is better than machete. But even better than axe would be for example a baseball bat. But this would require either a third person, or Tommy to switch weapons quickly, or the sweater girl to get out of the sweater animation quickly (there's a cheat for that) and then stun Jason.

My first Jason kill: video

I started this very special match by doing my trademark, ie running straight to Jason's lap. Obviously I'm in love with Jason and can't wait to feel his hands on me. Then as Tommy I kept searching for the phone box fuse (it is always an obsession for me, even after I got the repairs done for a trophy. When this happened I had escaped to the police for over 100 times, and very little by other means) and gas for the car, I think the boat had already escaped. That Adam in the video kept following me and tried to show some flash light signals, I couldn't understand why. In this gameplay video I realized that there were two players following me, so I decided to see who are they. And then a sweater girl appeared. She had big difficulties trying to give me her axe. Quite lucky that we were successful. For example that Jason lost his mask from my first hit ("show yourself"), which means he had received previous damage. Especially because Jason already had the new (shitty) rage on.

So now when I apply for jobs I can put this to the part "The best achievement of your life".

An A to Z guide to Friday 13th: The Game

I get commissions for purchases made through the links in this post, at no cost to you.

Why? Because I feel like it.

Adam Palomino.

Adam is one of my favorite counselors. He's good at repairing, and he's even one of the best choices for removing Jason's mask. In many ways Adam and Fox are similar counselors, both have good repair and strength.

Baseball bat.

For many players this is their favorite weapon in the game because it almost always stuns, but it doesn't make much damage to Jason's mask. My favorite weapon is the axe, it both stuns and does damage.

Crystal Lake.

The infamous camping grounds, where danger always lurks. Did you know that there even are Crystal Lake Tours in New Jersey?

Deborah, Kim.

One of the repairing counselors. Adorable in her bunny costume. If you don't escape early, she is difficult to survive as.

Ending.

Friday the 13th: The Game is coming to an end on December 31st, 2024. After that you won't be able to play it.

Fox.

One of the rare counselors based on a character from the movies. Out of all the female counselors, she has the best strength, for removing Jason's mask. And like I said, she's good for repairing too.

Glitches.

F13 is notoriously full of them. Remember the times when counselors were able to go to the roof of Packanack lodge by using traps? So Jason couldn't reach them? But then a way was discovered for Jason to go to the roof as well. It required Jason to be in rage mode. And how about the time when Jason was able to destroy the cars by throwing knives? Just to name a couple.

Higgins Haven.

On this map you can escape with the car via the boat exit! Yes, I have seen some streamers do it, but have never been able to do it myself. Also still to this day, Jason can shift himself to the roof of one of the cabins. Good place to hide from a kill squad?

Ice cold.

One of the perks in the game. With the final update to the game, which gave everyone the best perks, this one was among the removed ones. It made you less fearful of your dead team mates' bodies. Did anyone ever use it? To be fair, the rare times I've gotten jump scares in this game is because the counselors are so startled by the bodies.

Jason, Voorhees.

The man, the  myth, the legend. A serial killer. For some reason he seems to have fans. They must be psychopaths.

Kensington, Chad.

Famous for his speed and speedo. Also you should know that Chad is a dick, and a momma's boy. He's afraid of even his own shadow. By the way, if you play as Chad and wear something else than the speedo, you are doing it wrong.

Lachappa, Eric JR.

Some people paid to be in the game, Lachappa is one of them. He's good at repairing, but his stamina is the worst in the game. Therefore he's the most difficult counselor to play as.

Mitch Floyd.

According to a conspiracy theory Mitch is just a Kenny with a beard. And is Mitch really "a kid", as he says when he calls the cops? How old is he?

New Game.

A new Friday the 13th game is in the works, but it probably won't be a multiplayer.

Offline play.

You can play only as Jason offline, against bots. There is no AI Jason to go against as a counselor. And the counselor bots are... extremely stupid, to put it mildly.

Packanack.

One of the locations/maps in the movies, and the game. On Packanack I prefer trying the boat escape. And die trying...

Quiet.

A default emote for all the counselors. I don't think I've ever seen anyone use it.

Riedell, Kenny. The average guy, he's not good at anything. Usually the first to die, because of South Park of course. In my opinion he's the best looking male counselor.

Savini Jason.

Many people would be willing to pay a lot of money to get Savini Jason now, but he was a pre order bonus. At some point Savini was also sold for a brief time by accident, was it on Xbox?

Tommy Jarvis.

Special counselor right from the movies. Tommy is needed if you are gonna try to kill Jason. He has the best stats, and a shotgun with just one bullet. Better use it well...

Ultimate slasher edition

It has all the released content for the game, including DLCs.

Victoria Sterling.

The blonde counselor is, according to some, the "Karen" of the game. Personally I love her looks. She also has surprisingly good stamina, 7/10.

Wilson, Brandon.

Also known as Buggzy. The best counselor for mask removal, right after Tommy of course. So find a machete, and seek Jason. I'm sure you'll be just fine.

X

We never got Jason X. The lawsuit ruined everything for this game.

Friday the 13th: The Game - Best Jason

Beginner's guide: Jason

For a newbie Jason the most important thing is to choose a running Jason. That means part 2, 3, 4 or 5. If you don't know what to do and don't know how to shift, you will be in a lot of trouble as a walking Jason.

Some Jason experts say that the best Jason for a beginner player is part 3. He is generally good all around, and doesn't have any big weaknesses. And you can put that purple NES-skin on him... and we also call him the stealthy Jason, his music is so damn silent that it's often a surprise that he is even nearby.

Part 2 has the most traps, so he has the best objective control. If you play as part 2 and don't use those traps for objectives, you should probably change to a better Jason. Part 2 has a bad shift.

Part 4 has the least amount of traps, only 3. So he has the worst objective control. He also has bad shift, and pro players say that he's the worst Jason to play as. But part 4 breaks doors fast, and can run. So in the right hands he can be a terrifying force. If you play as part 4 you need to focus on not letting counselors regain their stamina. Personally I hate playing against part 4 Jason the most. Or any running Jason, for that matter...

Part 5 (Roy Burns) has the biggest amount of knives. So maybe, if you don't know how to utilize those knives yet, maybe he's not the best choice for a newbie? Or maybe he's the best for practicing throwing knives?

I haven't played much as Jason because I hate it, and I'm not good as him. So now I just focus on being a helpless counselor.

All the Jasons are so damn ugly. I especially hate the neckless part 3, ugh. So when it comes to looks I chose to play as part 5, he looks the most human. But I hate having to break doors as Jason, I'm way too lazy to do that. So these days my choice is that pathetic part 4... if I played as Jason. Which I don't.
