Friday the 13th the game: Tips as counselors

These are some common mistakes made by the counselors in Friday the 13th: The Game.

If you find the phone box fuse it should be your top priority to try to find the phone house. If this does not interest you, drop the fuse. Don't keep the fuse hostage.

If the fuse has been dropped by the phone box, don't take it and run away elsewhere with it. By doing so you'll probably doom every counselor in the lobby to die.

This is my pet peeve in the game. In my opinion the fuse is the most important item in the game. I rarely rage quit as host, but forementioned behaviour might trigger me to do so.

 

Many players don't seem to know that once Jason hits rage mode, flare guns and fire crackers become useless. They don't stun Jason anymore. If you try to use them on a Jason who's in rage you are likely to die. When Jason is in rage he can only be stunned by shotgun or mask removal.

Never lock one hit doors. What are one hit doors? These are doors which Jason can break in one hit, whether they are locked or not. There are one hit doors for example on Packanack and Higgins Haven main lodges. If you lock those doors, a counselor might die because of you. If Jason is chasing them and they are in a hurry, a locked door might mean the difference between life and death. How many times I have died because idiots lock one hit doors...

And never ever place traps behind these one hit doors! And never put traps behind unbarricaded doors. In general, be very careful with trap usage. They are always more likely hurt counselors than Jason. Unless you are an asshole who likes to troll other counselors with traps.

If you are playing as a low repair character, and there's a counselor with better repair skill right next to you, then for God's sake drop the item and let the repair counselor repair. Repair counselors are meant to repair, that's their meaning of life!

 

And by the way, if you play as a repair counselor and don't repair... you might as well play as Vanessa.

If you have the car keys, pay attention to cars. At worst there could be two fully repaired cars for the whole match, without anyone starting them. What a waste. And again, because of this everyone will probably die. If you don't want to drive yourself, drop the keys, preferably near the car.

Why am I level 150 in Friday the 13th?

Friday the 13th: The game infamously suffered from hackers who could delete any player's perks and cp. So to fix this and to reduce costs there was last update to the game, which gave all the players level 150 and the best perks.

This update also broke the trophies. You can't get any cumulative trophies anymore. You can only get the trophies you can earn in a single match. There isn't gonna be a fix to this. Therefore the platinum for F13 is unobtainable.

 

 

I was lucky enough to get the platinum just before this update... They were always coming up with new ways to break the game.

Are Friday the 13th: The Game servers shut down?

Lots of people have been telling the same lie for years: That Friday the 13th: The Game is dead. That it can't be played anymore. That no one plays it anymore. All the time people are surprised to see someone still playing this supposedly 'dead' game.

Yes, F13's dedicated servers were shut down in November 2020, that much is true. But you can still play the game via peer to peer matchmaking. One of the players in the lobby is the host, to whom everyone else is connected to. Unfortunately if the host leaves then the match and lobby ends for all the players in the lobby. And many hosts rage quit when they are killed.

 

 

Player count at least on Playstation is plentiful, the lobbies are full and fill fast, still in 2024.

As for the other platforms, on PC the game is full of modders and other cheaters, and F13 is often unplayable there. On PC there's the advantage that you can choose whether you want to host a lobby or to join an existing one. By hosting a lobby yourself you can avoid the modders, but it might take some time before anyone joins your lobby. In general the playerbase on consoles is much bigger than on PC.

Friday the 13th: The Game is still playable until at least December 31st, 2024. 

So don't say the game is dead until it really is. And enjoy while it lasts, I certainly will.

So the time has come and Friday the 13th: The Game isn't available to be bought from digital storefronts anymore. And unfortunately the game was removed/delisted from online stores early, and some people weren't able to buy the game even before the supposed deadline of December 31st, 2023.

But fear not, my fellow Crystal Lake camp counselors! You can still buy the physical disc version of Friday the 13th: The Game!

F13 game glitches: Beyond the police exit

If you use a pocket knife too close to the police exit, this can happen. As my speedo Chad I was able to run around the police exit freely.

This Lachappa was grabbed too close to the police exit. Lachappa couldn't be controlled anymore, and he reached the end of the map.
